amazing dealing with progressive. wow!!
my guy wrote up an estimate listing everything, even minor stuff. Also my gear and accessories were listed. long story short, say 24hours later i have 3 checks in my hand. gear, accessories, and the bike.
my gloves, they took a picture and wrote me a check, let me keep them. still very usable, just the pad in the palm covering was worn. no question, no fight. Next was my hand guards, took a picture, wrote the check from the receipt, no question and no fight. just need a plexi piece cut and its good as new.
the bike, no questions or fights, even the smallest stuff was no problem. say a slight scuff on the lip of the brake pedal, no question. the feeler on the foot peg, just small stuff was no fight and not questioned. took pictures and documented and paid more than the estimate.
now the question is, whats OK to live with. the pedal, one swipe with a file its good as new. the tail has a slight scuff from where the case hit it and 2 small scratches. so does the opposite side and i never have the cases off. might not spend that $200+. for sure the big stuff is getting fixed, no questions about it.
the thing I'm having a hard time with. the nose I'll call it, has a slight crack under the mirror, could most likely be fixed from the inside. washed it and its super hard to see or feel. if its a down the road issue I'll fix it no question. the nose has a few pits and chips from 26k miles, if i spend say $250 on this one, wont it look the same if I'm doing it for cosmetic reasons?? if the crack will spread, for sure its being replaced. had and have no intentions of getting rich of crashing, but i don't want to waste money either. my guy will get it all anyways, on tires or the next valve check, or other services I'm sure.
so the checks were 2800 for the bike, 90 for my first gear tundra gloves, and 90ish for my hand wings. not terrible for sliding it back-wards down the road. just a painless experience dealing with progressive. not sure everyones is, but mine sure was.
anything else crazy I'll update with damage reports and such. might have tweaked the mirror support bracket thing. the gap is a tic off and the wind shield is out a tic on the right. the insurance guy said if anything else comes up, don't hesitate to let them know.
thanks guys,
Joel
