Need Help! Friggin TOMTOM! AARRGGG
« on: June 28, 2011, 07:12:48 PM »
So I have the TomTom Rider 1 gps and I want to install it with a RAM mount onto the fairing. Problem is, I don't have the specific "cradle" for the unit. I called tomtom and they do not sell the unit in the US, just the UK and when I try to order one, they don't let me buy it because they do not ship outside of the UK so I am like WTF??!!!! Without that specific craddle, I am pretty much SOL. This is the craddle that I need:

http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/products/accessories/mounts-holders-docks/additional-mount-kit-for-rider/

and it attaches to the RAM mount like so:

http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045050051056045084079050085/Default.aspx

Does anyone care to give me some advice on what I should do? Using the gas tank mount is also not an option for 2 reasons:
1. My tank bag goes over the gas cap
2. I would still need the craddle to be able to screw anything onto the unit.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I use one of them elcheapo handlebar mounts found on eBay for about 15.00; it's simple to install and is in a fairly good position to see.

Have you done a web search? I just did and in about two seconds I found this cradle:

It isn't the same as the one you show but it is for the TomTom 1.

Tcro, that will not work as there in no handlebar space.

Tim, that cradle is for the tom-tom one. I have searched the web for days and nothing. It seems that anything that I can use requires the original Tom Tom cradle which is what I have been looking for.

Check here. You kinda have to go thru hoops to find it in their catalog, but I think you might find what you need there:
