Recently purchased bike and it's been perfect. Today for the first time I did some hard acceleration on the highway and took an off ramp, when I stopped at the red light a plume of smoke surrounded me briefly so I looked around and the lower left side of the bike was covered in oil including my foot. It still ran and operated perfectly on the short ride home after. I had somewhere to be so I frustratingly parked it in the garage and left it. I did do some quick looking around and can't tell where it's coming from. Any ideas on the matter guys?
Yup, the camchain tensioner has blown it's bolt out. Plenty of oil comes out of there. Replace the tensioner with a cheap manual tensioner from Amazon or Ebay for about $50. https://www.ebay.com/itm/364759553484
So, I'm going to throw a manual tensioner in it. No big deal. But .. next question... What oil do I refill it with? Preferably something from AutoZone.
Do you know how to set the tension on the manual unit? Too tight and you can burn up the chain guides. Don't forget that you'll also need the gasket, 11009-1858.
