Diesel/electric all wheel drive.
Pappy and Conrad, any updates on your TDi's? The Jetta TDi is very high on my list of potential vehicles.
You guys ever owned an older TDi? Some of those are getting 50+ mpg AND they can run on BIO diesel. I haven't done any research but why wouldn't VW make the new TDi BIO compatible? Maybe I should just join the TDi forum.

Chet, I still miss my '99 F250 Lariat Diesel 4x4.. When diesel hit 3 bucks, I sold her with all the goodies, plow, cap, remote starter from audiovox (rare on a diesel).About all I need is a decent cold air system, the PO removed the air box and installed a very large filter and retained the flexible straw like intake hose. I already have the Edge tuner which works every bit as good as they say. The dealer also installed a new 4 inch exhaust so once the in matches the out all will be good. The PO used the truck to haul their horses around and the truck only had 118000 miles, truck is as close to new as most 2011s out there. To top things off? I got $1400 back for the trade. Twice the truck and money for a cattle guard and winch. Life is good
But I sure saved a ton, enough on fuel monthly to purchase a new turbo Subaru Forester, and paid that off in three years. I would have joined you and
Conrad with the TDI Jetta wagon ownership, as I really enjoyed the test ride and mileage that the diesel gave. But, I need to tow two trailers, and the Jetta just will not do the job
without heavy strain, so I wound up purchasing another Subaru, 3.6 Outback.
But, I still have a few goodies for the F 250! I have factory new in box mud guards (all 4), and factory wheel locks, new in package, and window vents,
new in package. I can check around for anything else, as I normally keep the brochures, sales aids, etc. Let me know if you're interested in any of it..
Well, I just got done doing a little excursion through the mountains, after 250 or so miles I was showing an average of 50.2. Not to shaby for lots of elevation changes. The TDI convinced me I needed a diesel pickyup so I traded the Toyota Tacoma in on a 99 F250 with the 7.3 turbo diesel. Full bed, Lariat package, loaded. I'm getting just shy of a calculated 19mpg (better than the Tacoma did empty BTW) pulling a light trailer and loaded bed accross several passes. I never would have dreamed I would get that kinda mileage with a full sized truck and that torque? Wow and so so roomy.
Would I buy another TDI? Yes, in a heartbeat. IMO it's by far the sportiest economy car on the road. Take one for a test drive, just be prepared to buy one. Plenty of room to boot, something I think Jeremy may find important
Sounds like you made out darn good on that deal Chet!Yep, no need to tow with the Jetta. I'm thinking she's gonna live and die stock. There's a first for everything
You've given up on towing with the TDI then?
I'm with you on the diesel pick-up too. I have an 03 Silverado Duramax/Allison, crew cab, 8' bed. It's a great truck! I bearly fits in my garage but it does fit and I can even close the overhead door.

Do you use the clutch on the C14 to close the door?
I'm embarrassed to say my brother rented a Peugeot in France and it was so quiet we had no idea it was a diesel. Didn't sound anything like my old diesel rabbit. No smell like my old diesel rabbit. The gas cap had diesel in slightly raised letters black on black. I need reading glasses and without them I couldn't see the letters. I put gas in it, about 1/2 tank. It still ran but in about 15 miles it started running rough. We drove it another 50 miles or so to a Hertz place (still running no problem but missing some) and they exchanged it no problem.
