The Enquietening
« on: August 12, 2013, 08:56:53 AM »
I took off my Walkers this weekend so I could clean and polish them. See "Cat Repellant" thread in open forum if you want to know why. I put the stock cans back on and went for a ride and realized I like the quieter experience. I liked it so much I put the stock muffler back on my commuter cage. I'm liking that also.
I think I turned OLD this weekend.

There is a market for Walkers, but I'm not part of it.

Toxz, I read the topic header and thought this was part of the Decline. Then I read further of your troubles and remedy and am now sure of the Decline.  :(

HaHaa!  This hits home a little too much...have a Toyota Tundra with the 5.7L and an aftermarket cat-back muffler system that has quite a bit of drone to it at highway speeds, but it sounds so damn cool opened up, but still thinking of putting the stock stuff back.

Indeed, the Decline
followed by the Endarkening
But we shouldn't talk of this here

Its one of the things I actually like about the C10. Between the realtive quit of the bike, and the 'old man' baby$hit beige color, I never get hassled by the man.

When I wannna make some noise - I have a Guzzi Sport 1100 with Termignoni cans, and a Laverda 750 with an open megaphone. Lovely...

Yes, even Bafflectomized, my bike is still much quieter than those Harley types... I very much prefer the quiet.

Funny story.  On one of my last vacations, I was travelling in my older V6 Ranger, and the exhaust broke off just in front of the muffler, so for a bit I had only the catalytic converter functioning as the 'muffler' as I proceeded to my destination.  Actually wasn't all that loud at freeway speeds, but it was noticable.

On the freeway, some Sportster felt the need to 'pace' me.  I couldn't even hear my exaust over the din!

So what are you going to do with your exhaust?

So what are you going to do with your exhaust?

I'm gonna hang on to them for now. They sure sing a nice song at WOT but they sometimes attract the wrong attention, usually during maneuvers that I don't want observed.  Tinnitus sometimes gets bad on long rides also.
If you want, I'll give you a shout if I decide to part with them.
