Help I hope Steve reads this. I'm diving into another project, a 1989 ZX10, and have 3 ebay ZX11 pistons left over from my ZG1000 2mm overbore and so may as well go with a 76 mm bore with this.
I have a ZX10 head on the way but no cylinder block yet.
Question: is the 88-90 ZX10 head surface identical to the ZX11/ZRX1100? I've been going cross-eyed looking at images on the web. If I can drop the ZX10 head on a ZX/ZRX1100 block that'll save the cost and wait on my machinist. Took three months to get my parts back. It was worth the wait b/c he's the best around but this bike will be more of a plaything than the Connie.
One more question, searches for cases show the ZX10 and Concours cross over. I suppose all I would need for a salvage yard Connie engine bottom end to work is the chain drive accessories and transmission?
I've been looking at notes on a 1052 build. I think: 1 way is; (1989) ZX-10B Rods & ZRX-1100 pistons. (Stock cylinder height) The other is; ZG rods, and ZX-11 pistons. (Cylinders must be decked?)
You can't combine the ZX-10B Rods and ZX-11 pistons on a Connie.... I was told that ZX-10B Rods and ZX-11 piston combination is too tall to fit into a ZG Cylinder. Clearly there is a difference in piston height/wrist pin location.
So, I'm wondering if your planned ZX-10B Rod / ZX-11 Piston combination may be too tall for your ZX-10B Cylinder?
