The Beech D-18 was actually a C-45 (military version). Basically the same thing. I would LOVE to go for a ride in a B-29, the price is very reasonable ($570.00). I went for a ride in a B-17 once when one happened to stop by in Ukiah (Aluminum Overcast). I just happened to see it turning in on final and I couldn't believe my eyes.
I ran home and robbed the safe of a few Ben Franklins and headed back to the airport. I neglected to wear ear plugs and the noise was beyond the threshold of pain. Ultra vibration, the racket and a super bumpy, windy day added up to an amazing experience that I will never forget. It was awesome!
