I only have one Fob and a passive one.
I am thinking of securing the passive one on the bike somewhere. Any suggestions? Thinking under the panel on the tank.
If you have a spare key, highly recommended, then you have more options. How about under the seat in the toolbox?
If you put it in your jacket, secure your jacket. Some scumbag took mine off my bike in Johnson City TN. That jacket also had the keys to my travel trailer in the pocket. Bastid...
If you put it under the seat, have a generic key made for your normal keyring that is likely in your pants pocket to unlock the seat (and gas tank and bags). That'll lock up your fob and make it convenient to unlock the rest. I have a generic key and a Givi key on a ring in my left jacket sleeve.
I also replace both fob's batteries when I find one that gives a warning... because I always carry both, at all times.. so if one ain't working, I know the other one ain't far from the same...

Under the seat is a locked area.... so if you lose your fob, how will you unlock the seat to get to the spare fob/key?
I said IF you have a spare key, then this is an option...
I still do NOT understand all the drama of the FOB. I have had one on every car since '90. Never had any problems with losing one. I have an '09 with two active FOBS. I used a zip tie like MOB to secure my keys to it, and that's it. I don' t carry a spare. I don't use a lanyard to secure it to my person. It stays at home with my spare car keys. Do you carry a spare FOB for your car? If you loose the car FOB its cheaper to replace but you're still SOL if far from home. Why is it so different on a motorbike? It's the same as a car with a FOB except it's a keyed lock for the gas tank. Just asking not trying to start any trouble...

The reason people worry about their fobs is because of wild animals.
Not all that long ago, humans were very at- risk of being attacked and killed by large carnivores. So we started hanging around perpetual fires, hid in caves and eventually built buildings strong enough to keep those pesky critters away from us. Today it is very rare to hear about a mastodon or saber- tooth tiger attacking anyone but we really have not evolved any appreciable amount since it was a real problem, so the fear lives on. But now we transfer that fear to other things such as: what if the toilet clogs (horror!)? Is my microwave really reducing my sperm count? And, of course, what if I lose my fob (shiver me timbers). The sad truth is that people have a fixed amount of worry and fewer things to expend it on so.... we waste it on relatively silly things. Mostly KiPass I think (remember, NEVER, EVER tease a saber- tooth tiger or take the key out of the ignition on a C-14).

I keep my passive fob tucked right in my bra. They are the handiest things for storing items. Spare money, house key, fobs, cell phones, and sometimes even some left over food. That comes in especially handy on the long days on the road when hunger sets in!
