Yesterday myself and 9 other like minded bikers set off from North Yorkshire for a days ride out in the beautiful English Lake District, the weather was stunning and the outstanding scenery provided views to die for, our main destination was the town of Keswick in the North Lakes area, we arrived and proceeded towards the Secret View which is a well known beauty spot for outstanding views and vistas
The breathtaking views
Lunch at a fantastic tiny, remote cafe followed and the ride out continued, I had to leave at this point to make the 2 hour ride back home in time to meet some friends at 4.30 pm
I eventually arrived home at 6.30 pm due to a flat tyre which I wasnt able to fix with my puncture repair kit, so I had to be collected and taken home, which is not the way I would have planned things, but it didn't spoil a good days ride out in excellent company.
Here's a picture of the puncture.........Michelin PR4 GT tyre........much has been said in the past about the susceptibility to punctures of its predecessor the PR3, indeed I suffered such a fate with PR3s on a previous GTR .....question is, will the PR4GTs prove to be puncture prone
Beautiful pics! Thank you! Why not plug it and continue the trip?
My repair kit didn't work, maybe it was past its 'use by date', I must've had it about 3 - 4 years even though it was new and unused, I eventually ran out of pressurised air cylinders to inflate the tyre, so had no option other than to call for assistance
It's worth mentioning that my location at the time was Bowes Moor which is extremely remote and exposed,
Mmmmmmm..............I always thought landed gentry like your good self Roger always carried a hip flask and pack of gentlemens relish sandwiches in proper preparation of events just such as this ?
Strange you should mention that Charlie as all I'd eaten that day was a Muesli breakfast and soup and a bread roll for lunch, fortunately I had some Lucozade tablets and water with me otherwise I could have simply 'wasted away' in the great outdoors
"Landed Gentry".........yeah right
I have overhauled my roadside puncture repair arrangements now though.....BTW RAC Kawasaki assist left a lot to be desired
