It's actually a combination of heat and direct sunlight that seems to cause the problem, and it is temporary as you have noted. This is more of a design issue, rather than a warranty issue. Odd that your dealer is unaware of this. Or maybe not, as I have never heard of anyone trying to make a warranty claim on it. If you swap out the unit, you will no longer have an "A" titled bike, which will very probably affect resale down the road. Your new unit will continue to have the same issue, so it is unlikely to do you much good. unless Kawi has actually changed the design.
Your bike, etc, but it would be easier to just throw an old shop towel over the gauges, or make a cover or shade for them. Some people have used shower caps.

I just try to avoid parking in the sun. Sometimes just parking a quarter- or half-turn different is sufficient.
