Heck, why not be real careful and buy a new bike every time it needs an oil change?

Of course, if you want to spend the money on new rims just to be safe w/o knowing what the problem is, you can do that, too/instead.   :o

That's what I do. Of course if you run synthetic you can keep the oil but change the bike.

If the run-out is within spec, it's not bent.  I just had my front rim straighted after a nasty pot hole encounter.  That rim was BENT (pictures available) but it was rock solid at every speed between walking and stupid fast.  The rear rim is still slightly bent but there are no stability problems.  Both rims were able to be balanced.  How did you verify balance?

How is the run-out to be within spec?  Shouldn't it be 100% true/straight?  I measure the run out by having the front wheel jacked up by my motorcycle fork stand, then have something go against the rim, then turn the wheel slowly and see if there is run out.  There are couple of spots on the rims that is hitting the pointer.

Now we are getting to the good questions.  Just like valve clearances, compression, tread depth, and almost every spec on any mechanical device, there are acceptable and unacceptable tolerances.  From 10-4 in the 2008 FSM, the Axial Standard Runout is 0.5mm/0.02" or less.  The Service Limit is 1.0mm/0.04".  The Radial Standard Runout is 0.8mm/0.03" or less and the Service Limit is 1.0mm/0.04".

On my old GL1100, the Service Limit was 0.080", and the runout was 0.060", but it created a severe wobble, which necessitated the wheel replacement.

Since we are discussing fairly small tolerances, it would be best to buy/rent/borrow a dial/digital runout indicator and check both runouts with the forks held firmly at full lock.  You could use a dial/digital caliper for a rough measurement, but it takes some bracing and a very steady hand to be even close to accurate w/o a runout indicator.

As I noted above, there are many possibilities for the wobble, including wheel and steering stem bearings.  It would seem to me to be more logical to check/fix as many things as possible before chucking the cash at a wheel.  Just from your story, my first suspect would be an unevenly mounted tire, but there are lots of things that can cause a 35-45mph front wobble.  Including bent rims.  I just prefer to check/fix the easy/cheap stuff first.

Like you said, there are just too many possibilies that caused this problem.  I don't even know where to start. I will bring the bike to the professional to check it out. Thanks.

I wonder, if zx14 front wheel fit our Concours?  Is there a certain year that will not fit?  I see a few zx14 front wheels in ebay for sale.  Thanks.

Yes the ZX-14 front will fit, but the C14 rear wheel is unique.

Thanks.  Can I assume the rotors will fit the zx14 wheels just fine without any modification?  What about the spacers?  I just want to make sure everything before I spend the money.  Thanks for the info.

Also, would the Tire pressure sensor swap right over without modification?

Everything about the front rim is exactly the same.  Just swap your hardware over to the new rim.
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.
