Smells like a troll to me, look at the profile, registered yesterday and 2 hours later posted he was done with Kawi...  :-\

I've had zero problems from my 09.....nothing. I had little confidence in my Suzuki but will take off anywhere on my C14,I  just take a tool kit, mini compressor and tire plugs.

Oh, and spare fob batteries.........

Nope.  There may be some entertainment value still left in this thread.  Let's curtail the troll comments for now, please.

Well, I a lot to say about the gear position indicator....but I'll keep it short.  My 2010 Concours with 7282 miles is back at the dealer for the 4th time because of the gear indicator not operating properly.  I have filed an Oregon Lemon Law claim against Kawasaki and my attorney has notifed Kawasaki that we are demanding my money be returned and attorney fees.  So far Kawasaki is being stupid...and this will end up in court and in the magazines...because I will push this issue.  I am DONE with Kawasaki motorcycles!!!!

Sorry to hear of your problems but was there another dealer that you could go and get the bike looked at?

Yep, warranty issue, took the tech about 5 minutes to confirm fault, orderd part, called me back, I dropped off the bike at closing time, bike was ready the next day before I got home.  It appears this is the one item not protected by the mad "Powahs" of KIPASS ;D

Wow, doubting KiPass huh  ;D

I guess that's the last we hear of him as he's done with Kwaks.  Sounds like to me if it's happened multiple times either the dealer is completely incompetent or he is rough on the shifter and in which case probably a Yammi is in his sights.  Seems that's where all the disappointed folks go....

You got that right.
PM me for details on my FJR 1300 electrical problem, that got a major worldwide recall.
Wont post it up for obvious reasons.

Taff, I think the OP rode a Sportster in a previous life, the truth of the matter is the lean angle caused him to hit a road turtle, shearing the peg, shifter, and toe of his boot off.  He is also upset that Kawasaki doesn't stock tassles in the dealership :o

Brian

How are you Brian?
I didn't want to hijack the thread but this is worth reading.

Background:
2007 FJR 1300 bought new in May 2007. Rode the crap out of it until 2 years ago when I was downtown in Seattle. Turing left, about to climb up a steep hill, when I give way to a bus (RCW law here in WA). Bus was at a crawl so I was "milking" the clutch then gradually let the clutch out when the bus gathered speed. Then I noticed the bike was totally dead. Quickly pulled in then let out the clutch thinking I had stalled the bike (before the hill began) nothing. Then the un-thinkable happened, all power to the engine (no kidding) was restored and I nearly re-ended the bus but used the kill switch to stop the bike and free wheeled to a halt. Decided to check the battery connections (good job I carry tools) etc but no loose connections!
Bike then started fine so I make my way up to see my little girl to say goodnight (I am divorced). On the way back home on I-5 South, near where the freeway bears left as you spy the Space Needle, a kind cage person was on my tail. Cage went right then a truck decided to tail gate. Traffic was very heavy but flowing and mid curve the bike lost power. I was very lucky not to get hit but this time the engine once again produced power and I limped home after exiting I-5 to ride the back roads home, chugging along.

So, a week or so later I was riding with a good mate of mine and we decided to get a bite to eat. He was leading and as I was turning left to the mall when the engine cut out again mid lean (ask my mate about that mid turn engine stop)but I managed to get my leg down to stop from falling over (hurt leg though). This time we ended up getting the bike towed home.
As you are all aware, Yammi had a recall on the ignition switch (which I had already had completed) so this was a different problem. Bike went to dealer to get stripped. They found the front left (top side as you are seated on the bike) wiring harness (earth pot) completely bare and grounding against the metal frame near the head. Due to the nature of the problem this earthing did not occur on a regular basis (first delaer said nothing was wrong). A patch was completed while we awaited the new (complete harness in my case) harness. I didn't have to pay anything and I believe it was my insistence and the dealers pictures that gained Yamaha's attention for this worldwide recall. FYI, 2 harness's were made for this recall, one complete (my problem) and one half harness. The whole bike (in my case) had to be stripped so that the wires go to the throttle body area etc.

Hope this gives you Kawa haters another perspective on how bikes produce problems in a different way that emerge from time to time. Don't get me going on the f****in Buy Me Wallet bikes.
And yes, I still have the FJR with 83,000 miles on the odo.
C14 is much much better than the FJR in every aspect of riding.

Jon.

No, not the OP.  Martin is okay.  I think it is the RP (revival poster) that you are referring to.

I'm indeed doing fine, and so it is my gear position indicator. It seems like it likes warmer temps and it hasn't been acting up so much lately, but I'm still getting it changed in the next visit to the dealer.

Sorry Martin, I had an awe shucks moment!!  I had mine replaced as I just wsn't sure how it would affect the ECU and how it would react, say I'm in 6th, yet GPI indicates 2nd.  I could live without an indicator, it's just another no value added electrical bit to me.
