They are a benefit but unfortunately to really shine, you need a PC V and the auto tune module that is available for it. There was no auto tune module available for the PC III.  That way you can actually bring your own bike into the desirable tune for you, in your climate / environment / altitude, with your fuel, and so forth. A cookie cutter fuel map will work fine, after all, that is what the bike comes with from the factory, but a self- tuning system is absolutely better (called 'closed loop' tuning; all modern cars use this system).

It sure does sound like you have a bad PC III.

I just put back on and grounded to frame , didnt go one block and know I must have a bad one so Ball Peen get ready! Still curious if there might be a benefit ???

I hate to admit it seemed to pull out without pressing the tab so it had a loose connection but I have lost my patience to screw with it any more .
Thanks for all the info

That bike feels fast as heck now. Any further performance increases will be by trading in on ZX 14  but really way too old for that. Probally couldnt stand the G forces of that bike.
I did demo a new FJR saterday and while there were things I liked alittle more ;
Slimmer between the knees and nice gage pkg , I wouldnt buy one over a new C14 with flies out.

So I have no knowledge of how rich / lean they run after nothing more than removing the 'flies.

I remember seeing a table of the the values before and after a Guhl ECU flash and the purpose of the flash is to program opening of the flies very early (essentially the same as removing them).  I have no wish to wade through those threads again looking for it, but I seem to recall the fuel changes being VERY minor, and they were added not to address any changes from deactivating the flies, but just to perfect the overall stock values (they could be applied with or without flies being active).  Of course, my memory could be totally borked....
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc
