Refresh my memory on how to insert images to my profile
« on: May 16, 2011, 11:04:28 AM »
I want to insert my "travelled to" map into my profile, refresh my memory. I've got it in photobucket and I can't remember how I did it last month. Please show me EXACTLY how to do it, I have no idea what an addy is or what [ ] these are called or all the various terms for computer speak, all I get when I copy and paste is a big long address instead of a pic. I'm also trying to insert a pic from photobucket into my avatar space and it won't take either.  Thanks.

Put:  Bracket img bracket http://<your file name here (as stored on an internet accessible site) bracket /img bracket

Remove 'Bracket' and spaces.  Couldn't put it in verbatim, otherwise it just looks like my sig which wouldn't have been very helpful.

Its the same vernacular when you click the 'insert image' button when creating or replying to a post.

Now, I have to add a pic of my GPZ . . . .

Like Stasch said, you have to find out the address of your picture(s).  I suggest you

  • Right-click (in Windows) on a desired picture and use the Copy Image Location to get it
  • Open your Forum Profile to see the Signature area.
  • In the Signature box, type in [ img ] (click and paste Image Location here) [ /img ]
  • Repeat from Step 1 if needed.

Just trying to help...

OK, got it! I wrote it down but threw it away as I thought I'd never need it again. Still working on avatar though.

... Still working on avatar though.

Find your proposed avatar picture. It can be on the internet or your local computer. Similar process to changing your sig, but the avatar configuration is at the top of that screen. So all depending:

If your avatar is on your local computer, tick the "Upload an avatar" radio button then browse to the file on your computer.
If your avatar is on the internet (like Webshatz) tick the "Specify avatar by URL" radio button and enter the URL.

Don't forget to his save when done ;)

I'm new to this.  I know how to grab a pic off the web and insert it, but where do I find the actual map pic?

Thanks, Frank

...  but where do I find the actual map pic?

Here's one: http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/

Create the graphic, download/save it to your computer, the upload it to your favorite pix hosting service. Then modify your profile to include the linked URL (the states visited graphic) on your favorite pix hosting service.
