For a little while now have noticed a coolant smell after the engine is warmed up. I've been on my hands and knees looking at things and inside the fairings, but I can find no indication of a leak, the coolant level is not going down, the bike isn't running hot and no signs of coolant in the oil, but I can smell it any time I come to a stop. The smell is definitely coming from the front and seems stronger on the left side than the right. The last time I had it in they said they couldn't find anything wrong. However, I'm planning a 5000+ mile trip this year and would like to find out what it is before then. It's not just every now and then and it's more than just mildly noticeable (you don't have to be trying to smell it to notice it). Has anyone else had this happen?
Did you see this thread?

Yes, I did, and that post plus another one I found got me looking harder in that area which led to the culprit. I had looked at it before, but the angle had to be just right to see it, so it took a couple of times looking before I saw it.
So yours was leaking from the same place?
Close, but no. There is a hose that goes from the "water" pump to a coolant fitting on the front of the engine and also one that comes from the coolant fitting on the front of the engine to the oil cooler (the one from the post you linked). Mine was leaking at the joint for the one from the pump to the coolant fitting.http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=5604.msg65768#msg65768
