Hey Roadie, I'm a dad too, so what's your point?  Really, Joe should have spent his own money to hire a private investigator? Is that what you would have done?  No, I think you or I or anyone else would more likely choose the beat to a pulp option.  I don't condone the actions that are alleged here...if something like had happened to my kids I'd probably be in jail right now.  Saying Joe could have done more is great, but I'm still waiting for what plausible thing he was supposed to do?  I don't have an answer to that question.  I don't know what role, if any, he played in any real or fabricated investigation into the allegations.  Did he turn a blind eye?   It seems not.  Maybe he did all in his power.  Maybe there was more, although that 'more' hasn't been defined yet. Maybe the university board took matters into their own hands. Maybe Joe had no say in how the retirement/firing went.  We'll never know for sure.

told you, no reasoning with me on this one :-)...so you might want to find someone else to convince.  I'm not the one.  And you don't know what I would have done, just as I don't know what you would have done...so don't tell me my course of action...You're fully entitled to your opinion, me mine; stop trying to convince me otherwise.

How much time passed between the first known incident and Sandusky's firing/retiring/arrest?

Read the damn timeline: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11311/1188149-143.stm

1994 or 95 First reported incident.
2002 Paterno is told and reports to superiors.
2010 Sandusky is arrested.

Willful ignorance or passive approval to protect the money.
