Newbie ? On C14
« on: January 17, 2012, 05:05:56 PM »
Hello all,First I am new here & do not own a C14 Yet...I do however own a Goldwing..I am looking at the c14 for a second bike..Have some questions?.

First I guess Is if you lower it with links how does it effect the bike?..I am 5/5 about 29-30 in seem ,I have read some post on lowering it also with a different seat,So has anyone had this issue & how did you fix it?.

What is the average miles you can put on it in a 8 hour day..I guess what I am asking is 500 miles a day pretty easily achieved ?

Can you get the bars far enough back to get in upright seating position ?..

I am looking for a daily commuter ,a more sporty & Hp bike,But I also ride solo a good bit & take some 500 mile rides one way,on a whimm..So I would like to be able to say I am out of here hit the road a do 500 miles & not feel wore out..for my self & save the wing for longer & 2 up riding..

So what do you all think?..

Thank You

I lowered my 08 without intending to.  The stock seat does nto work well for me.  I disliked the softness and the feel of the seat when stopping.  A zx14 seat lowered the seat abotu 1 inch without doing anything to the chassis that coudl raise hell whit the handling or suspension.  This also makes the bars feel 1 inch higher so it would be  a great place to start.  Very inexpensive as well.   I ended up makign ten dollars on the seat after sellign the stock seat shroud which wont fit our c14's.

Unfortunately, the search on this site is a bit strange and sometimes not terribly effective.  One hint- when you search, it only searches the forum you are in.  Since lowering requires accessories, you have to go to that forum, first.

I can't speak to your height questions since I am 6' 1".

What is the average miles you can put on it in a 8 hour day..I guess what I am asking is 500 miles a day pretty easily achieved ?
I have my C14 setup for mainly long distance rides like Iron Butts, Short weekend ride to eats for our group are a minimum of 500 - 700 miles in a day.  I have done several 1500 mile rides with in 24 hour time frames with it.  The bike can handle anything you throw at it.  The only limiting factor will be the seat you choose.
Can you get the bars far enough back to get in upright seating position ?..
I have Helibar Horizons.  They are new and a bit expensive but they will pull you back several inches and at 6' 1" I sit straight up.

Like I said, short rides, long rides, the bike is so versatile you can ride as much as you want but be warned...  your going to have sooo much fun riding it you may not use the Wing much anymore.
