SEAT ADJUSTMENT
« on: January 07, 2012, 07:08:36 PM »
Been needing to get the seat adjusted for a while now. Went through the summer with the seat the way it was thinking it would do but no dice. I told Rocky to make it a few inches wider. He did , he added a full 2 for a full 18 inches across. He also flattened out the rear seat for the wife so she does not slide foward into me at stoplights. I will pick it up next monday.

I did mine several weeks ago, replacing most of the stock foam with layers of differing density foam I bought from local upholstery shops.  It took a few trial and error fitments, but I think it's dialed in very well; at least a ton better than the stock seat foam.  My sit bones would start screaming at me after 90 minutes or so.  Built up the nose too so I don't slide forward into the tank anymore.   ;D

...and the wife didn't even yell at me when she found out I was using our bread knife to trim the foam!

I'm interested to see how you cover it.  Also, what did you use to adhere the different foams together?

The cover will be black with blue piping to match the passenger backrest. As far a the glue goes, Rocky use a industerial type glue applied under airpressure. It is good stuff. He has done 4 seats for me over the last 10 years and never a problem with the seat coming apart.

Are we supposed to know who Rocky is?  Is this an upholstery buddy of yours?  I assume he is going to sew the new cover for you?  Is he going to use some kind of attachment to make the seat cover conform to the concave spot in the seat?
