Headlight blinks when I .....
« on: December 12, 2011, 11:55:50 PM »
hit a hard bump in the road, it's only the headlight. I've checked all the wires and the to the ballast (HID) set up and everything looks fine. I was wondering if the relay in the J box could be breaking down? is that possible, or the solder? I am unable to simulate the "blink" when I tap on the J box tho... any ideas? Everything elso works fine. Ive change out the bulb too and the same issue is there.

Since  there is very little load on the J-box and I have never heard of a stock headlight blink because of the J-box I would assume it is the mechanical relay for the ballast that runs off the old headlight  3 prong  connection is  the problem.
The new harnesses are solid state instead of mechanical.  Do a test for me and see if it makes a difference. With the light on  turn your high beam switch  off and on about 25 times and see if that stops the problem.
If you still have fuel in the tank, you are not lost yet
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle

Thanks Mike, Well  I lost the light on my way home this morning.  So I had to think about hte last time I worked on the battery area. As soon as I pulled off the left side panel, there was a connector just looking at me saying ..."hey dummy hook me up..." it was the one to the HID ballast wire harness....   :o  Doh !!!
