Stupidity. Being rushed.
I didn't RTFM.
I started locking the nut down without the one inch spacer on the left side, nor did I have the left peg hanging on the left side before I started hunkering down on the nut. By the time I realized I had screwed up, the damn nut was jammed all the wayup passed the threads on the end of the bolt...thats when the damage occured... I managed to get the nut back off then, put in the spacer, peg, and started screwing the nut back on...at which point i hit a stripped point on the nut, and the heffer just started spinning.
In a nut shell, slow the fock down, RTFM, and don't try and do a farkle 20 minutes before you need to leave for work.
