Getting the Good Beer Today, Thanks Progressive
« on: November 23, 2011, 01:04:17 PM »
This week on Monday at about 3am. on the way to worksux, I hit a raccoon. It cracked/broke the under belly and right side fairing. I received a check this morning, less than 48 hours after calling in to report it,  for $450 +/- directly from the adjuster. Cool way to do business. It kinda makes a person want to be loyal to an insurance company. Weird thought.

I'm gonna go git me some ABS primer and cement and do me a little body work, next time I remove the fairing.

Anyhow, Happy Thanksgiving to all you U.S. folks, and buy American this Christmas.

You can always do this:
Delboy's Garage, Plastic Welding panel lug repair.

Glad to hear an insurance company did good for you.

Well, I find a couple things wrong with this story.

First, raccoons don't taste good, I don't now why you were hunting them with your motorcycle.

Second, insurance companies just don't really work as well as stated.

Third, NO HUMAN is awake at 3AM, Much less riding a motorcycle.

Oh, scratch that last one, Now I recall you were fire-hunting raccoons. Carry on.

Seriously Steve, glad you didn't get hurt - every time I've run a critter over I had to check my pants afterwards  :yikes:! Steve

It was actually pretty much a non-event, just felt a bit of a bump to the bike, bump not as in run over, just a quick push to the bike. I A$$ume the body plastic absorbed much of the energy, along with the raccoon. The 'coon apparently survived, no evidence of carnage on the road or ditches.

Good post on the plastic welding. I have a few broken tabs that I will take a run at with this technique.
