quick rear wheel removal question

In order to easily remove the rear wheel should you put the c-stand up on a 2" hunk of wood or 4"? I cannot remember.
I have only had the wheel off once.

Ok, I am thinking: 2" under each wheel, then 4" under the c-stand. Then of course, slide out the rear 2" block.
I think I have that right!

edit: no. That was wrong. I couldn't budge her with 2,2 and 4. So, I just did 2" all around and viola.
Looks like plenty of room to get the wheel out now.

Nothing anywhere. I do it the easy way. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the rear final drive on.  The Wheel and final drive roll out as one unit.You need to grease the spline in there anyway so you might as well do it the easy way. Keep the final drive level or the oil will come out the weep hole. Put the axle back in and tighten down the 4  final drive bolts last.

Yeah, I'm with Mike on this one...except that I usually drain the rear drive oil. 

Then it for sure doesn't leak.  New lube on ALL the splines, the rear drive, axle, everything. 

Only way to get that dang BIG tire to come out of there...

Trim the rear fender down, and flip the license plate bracket over so the plate tucks up against the light better.  Tire comes right out with just the removal of the license plate, and Connie's rear end looks so much sportier.   

But taking the final drive off and lubing the splines is a very good idea, anyway.

I changed the lube and moly greased the splines less than 3k ago. But of course, it wouldn't hurt to grease them again.

Hows about this: Put  bike on CS on 2" x 4",  Pull Rt. can, easy. yank th rr brake off and pull the axle out. If you just want to do the tire you will not have to take off the pig. Unfortunatly,I have done it this way at a roadside rest a few yrs ago. I had the 2 x 4 in my tool bag, so it was quick and easy.

You will love this one, it is for my Ceramic Heater that I take with me when I camp in the colder weather. I set the heater on the wood to keep it off the tent floor. And it is only 8" long, not 8'.
Good question though,
