Starter noise
« on: October 29, 2011, 06:51:37 PM »
Haven't cranked the '99 Connie since last weekend, got food poisoning at a local eatery and just wasn't up to riding.

Went to start it today and the engine turned over, then stopped with a resounding clang. I first thought of hydrolock, but tapped the starter button again, and it spun over and fired up.

*scratches head*

What has happened to the old faithful?

If your battery is getting weak along with being low on water as well as dirty or loose battery cable connections you could get a weak cranking cycle followed by a stronger one on the 2nd cranking cycle.
