I can feel something in the front and rear levers doing something, and I'm not braking hard at all; I suspect it is the linking the brakes that I am feeling.

I should really give the ABS a test so I'm certain what it feels like - I know what it feels like in a car; I assume the bike will feel similar?

I found I definitely need the Gripster tank pads.

~A 70 mile ride home from the dealer on back roads. I was able to open it up a few times and it is nice and smooth, but the power is 'soft'. Coming off of the ZX14, most bikes are going to seem 'soft', but I know this is the effect of the stock programming and butterflies. I can definitely see an ECU flash in my future to restore the low-end lost by Kawasaki's programming.

I'm never going to understand why these manufacturers insist on doing things like this - this isn't a bike for beginners, so we don't need the manufacturer to neuter it. IMO, Kawi should have dropped the Zx-14 engine into this in stock form and called it a day, engine-wise.

Compared to my ZX14 and 109 HP 600RR the C14 is very soft.  It weighs a ton more and has only 130 HP, plus add the fact drive shafts rob powah to the rear wheel.

On the flip side, my old ZX14 got 29 MPG and overall was totally useless for sport touring.

Steve, that is exactly the reason I got rid of the ZX - it's a fun bike for short distances, but anything more than 100 miles would just become miserable - if your hands, wrists, and butt is sore once you get to the destination, you can't really enjoy yourself, and I found I just didn't want to ride that far because of it.

I liked the cruiser, but it wasn't very good on the curves. Having two bikes wasn't working anyway - the ZX was sitting nearly all of the time because the cruiser was more comfortable. With a few tweaks, this should cover both requirements. I hope.

+1 on this. The day I brought my C14 home I took it out and bedded in the brakes and then did some very hard stops so that I could get a feel for the ABS sensation. I didn't want any surprises when I needed it for real.

+1 on the Gripsters too.
