Pretty good deal on EBC HH Brakes
« on: October 03, 2011, 04:39:42 PM »
I needed some new brake pads to go with my new front rotors.  I shopped locally, and EBC FA417/4HH pads were running over $100 for the two sets needed, and most shops were going to have to special order them for me.
I ended up going to ebay, and a seller called "Hurley Motorsports" had the front sets for $83.99 delivered.  I ordered them on Thursday and received them today  (Monday).  I consider that a good deal and very good service.
I looked at their other auctions, and they also sell a complete front/rear set for $105.99.  Again, I think that's a pretty good deal.   (I had just put new rear pads on last month, but for most C14 owners, that's a great package price.  (I'm sure that within 1 hour of pressing "Post", I will have a dozen responses telling me what a bad deal I got, and where to get the same pads for $2.95.  But just in case this IS a good price, thought I'd share it with the group.)

hard to beat that price....

closest I found was
http://www.murphskits.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=130_157&products_id=357

if you haven't installed them yet, do me a favor, measure the pad thickness *without the backing plate).

I was a bit disapointed with the pad thickness on the HH's i bought, compared to stock ones, and the limit on the stock ones....
Mine were not as thick as i would have assumed they should be, very thin.

Sorry, I had them installed within 30 minutes of getting them out of the mailbox.  Can't measure now.  I did think they were a bit thinner than I expected, but hopefully they will wear longer due to the tougher material.  I'll have to watch them.  I could have gone about 24,000 on the originals I think, if the old rotors hadn't been messed up.  At 20,000, there was still a good bit of material left.

They upped their prices a bit. I got them in June for $76.99 or so. Great pads. Silent, and provide good feedback to the rider.
