Sell complete or part out?
« on: September 22, 2011, 07:52:00 PM »
I just bought an 01 and am going to take the farkles off mine to swap over. It would be easier not to have to put the 86 back together. It uses quite a bit of oil, about 24 oz to 600 miles. Not sure if anyone would be interested or not. What kind of money can one get parting out a bike? Not even sure what the parts are worth.

Will my new tires on the 86 fit the wider 01 rim?

Just looking for any input. I had done so much to the other thinking the oil consumption was holding  and then it got worse. Lpts of good parts for someone.

Wayne,
You need to give some more details here, your location is an important one. There could be some Connie riders who would like a project bike for winter, or a motor to tinker with. Maybe some pics, and a list of potential parts. I try to do a project bike every winter here in Ohio, but detailed engine work can be daunting.
So if you provide more info, you might get the info you seek.
Ride safe all, and ATGATT please.

I am in northeast North Dakota. Not big Connie country here. If I were selling in the spring I would ride it anywhere, just take oil with!

Will let you know if I go that route Silver.

I'm going to need some bag parts, right side antler, right peg.  Of course, if you decide to go that direction.

I would be pretty happy with that. I am going to start selling parts this winter. To few days to ride right now.

Yes the 110/80-18 will fit the 3.0" rim just fine...... Better than a 120/70-18 does IMHBHO

The back never changed and is all the same.

Check ebay and craigs list to see what things are going for.  When you start adding up value of parts it doesn't take much to exceed $1200.

The question is, do you want to hassle with parting it out and do you have space that can be tied up for a while until parts are sold.

I have had and sold Z1/KZ parts from about 5 to 6 bikes so I used to that. Thing is I knew the value of those a bit better. I have room but will want to move the plastics quick. Sounds like it might be fun.
