There is a fairly large difference between the PR2s and PR3s, or at least it feels that way to me.

The PR3s are softer, at least on the sides of the tires and seem to grip better than PR2s, again on the sides. The PR3s track better than PR2s also- they seem to give and conform to the road a bit and yield a more stable ride.

Both are fantastic tires IMO though and the PR2 is probably the better value; early reports seem to indicate similar mileage from both PR2s and PR3s, and the PR2 costs less so the cost per mile is less.

Although I was leaning towards the PR3 since they're the latest and greatest, it's going to come down to price between them and the PR2 (~$250 for the pair!!). Michelin's website makes me think these two are almost identical tires except for the sipes. (Slight difference in the width of the "harder" tread down the center of the front tire.) Since I'm seldom, if ever, riding in the rain, and the PR2's have such a great reputation, price is going to be the decision maker for me. I'll pay a LITTLE more for the PR3

I really considered the Angels, but I want dual compound tires, and they're not.

I can't decide on the PR3's or the Angels ST's.

Both are excellent tires and you probably could not go wrong with either one. The Angels grip better in my experience and are fantastic tires when new. They get harder and harder to turn in though by the time they are about 1/2 of the way through the tread. The PR3s are also excellent tires and seem to keep their shape and characteristics longer than the Angels do although grip may be down a bit from the Angels. It is tough to say because the PR3s are softer on the sides than the PR2s were and may grip as well as the Angels.

But even a 'bad' choice between those tires should work out well for you- both are terrific tires. This is based on one set of Angels, one set of PR3s (currently mounted with about 5K miles on them ) and 5 pair of PR2s.

Flip a coin, buy one set, wear em out and then try the other set.  I went with PR2s after a set of the now older stradas (which I loved BTW), it was a backward feeling, the Angels came out, JW had a sale and I tried them out, still love em, they have a coupla thou left in em but I have the 55s ready to go.  What I like may suck for someone else so experiment, all three being discussed are better then the OEM stones.

I've had Angels, PR2s and PR3s (now) on my C14.  Sticking with the PR3's.  Can't really put my finger on it, just like them more than the others.  ALL were great tires though.

+1 thats my findings exactly about the PR3s and why I'm crazy about them.

Prices were cheap enough for me to order a set of pr3s.  When I wear out my current tires I'll finally know which is better.....The angels or the pr3s.

Great service from BikeBandit. Ordered yesterday, and the tire came at 8am this morning from the Western Powersports center in PA. Front tire should be here tomorrow.

I just mounted new Angels and the 190/55 size on the rear. 09 with 33k miles. Nice improvement. I wouldn't say it is a complete game changer but the bike is definitely more nimble and falls into turns easier. Good recommendation.

Placed order for PR3s then they cancelled the order. They don't ship tires to Alaska.

I assume that means they won't ship to AK at the same cost as the lower 48? If you paid the extra, then would they ship to Alaska?
