Bar Vibration (Murphs vs Throttlemeister)
« on: June 03, 2011, 01:40:11 PM »
If you recall from my hand numbness posting I received many suggestions. (thank you all)

Towards reducing handgrip vibration I have considered Murphs weighted bar ends and the Throttlemeister (as it has heavy bar end)

Any Comments On Which Gives Better Vibration Reduction on the C14.

Q: C14 Bar Vibration before and after Throttlemeister

If those that have installed the Throttlemeister would you comment on any change in bar vibration ... it would help define my Christmas list  ;)

e.g. vibration reduction levels before and after comparison or hand numbness changes

I already have a go cruise and do not plan on getting an electronic cruise control

Have you tried removing the R. bar-end weight to see if it makes a difference? More weight may be the answer, I have wedges and my extender that add maybe 10 - 12 oz. and I don't have the problem any more. I wonder if relieving some of the tension in the throttle spring might be a cure for some complaints about R. wrist problems? I've also wondered if filling the back-side of the stanchion with loose lead shot and securing it with tape just long enough to see if it helped might be an option.

I am pretty sensitive to vibration/buzz, and I have almost none on my Concours.  The ZRX I came off of had a significant amount and I put on larger weights.  But I don't see the need on the Concours.   Sorry I am not much help.

I notice some vibration.  Not enough to complain about.  I don't think the Throttlemeister changed much with respect to vibration.

You're not alone.  I get the numb hand buzz too.  I have risers, wedges and grip puppies and still no help.  All bolts and nuts are tight.  The only thing I haven't done is check my TB synchronization.

Well Murphs are twice the weight of stock and if they don't work I believe he will take them back.   Plus they are cheaper and as with all problems I start with the cheapest solution first.

Now that I think of it maybe I should try a ride without any weight on them.

My hand/wrist/finger numbness/pain problems have nothing to do with vibration.  I could sit still holding the bars and have problems after a while.  And I, too, also have risers, wedges, and grip puppies.  And each one has been incrementally very helpful.  Combined, they are great.  My problems are from long term RSI/CTS from 30 years of intensive keyboarding.  Nothing makes the problems go away completely, but I am sure glad I had options!

I have throttlemeisters on my '10. I had hoped for a difference but didn't find any.
They do look nice though....

Question about Murphs bar ends...In bold type it says they will not work on the C14's with grip heaters.  Why?  What's the difference? You're just screwing the bar end into the end of the bar. I have a set I never used on my C10 that I wanted to tryout, more for looks than function.
