Front fender left rear cable holder thingy
« on: August 07, 2011, 06:13:07 PM »
I am new to this forum, new to Connies and new to sportsbikes so bear with me.

I have a new (to me) 2000 Connie and there is a hole in the left rear of the front fender.  It seems obvious to me that a cable holder gadget goes in the hole to secure the speedometer cable but for the life of me I can't find the part number to order a new one.

Powersportsplus.com has an excellent parts list but shows nothing to go in that hole!!!!!!! :'( :'(

So far I really like the handling of the Connie.  Any help would be appreciated.

Mike kept popping off, then I'd find it hanging on the cable.  When I replaced my speedo cable, I just decided not to reinstall it.

Push/thread a small screw into the backside of it to spread the tangs out and it will stay put.....

Mine used to fall out also. But Tony is correct. I put the screw to mine about 5 years ago and it
has never left its hole since.

I just got sick of mine falling off, and just put some black RTV adhesive on the back of it.

Thanks for all the replies.  Now I think I know why there isn't one on the bike also what to get and how to make it stay on.
I believe I would rather have one so the cable won't flop against the fender.

Thanks again,
Jim

I secured an E-clip from Home Depot around the tangs (on the wheel side of the fender.)  I think it was 2 in a pack for $0.99.
Me too, works great.

I just love when a Newbie to the Connie world tries to describe a part on their Concours.
"Front fender left rear cable holder thingy".
When all us veterans  know darn well it is called "That litte M.F. clip that keeps popping off the front F,ing fender.
Will they ever learn?   ;)
Ride safe all, and ATGATT.

I epoxied mine on and it has been there for 4 years or so. It looks good, was cheap (I had the epoxy already), but it does not come off anymore.
