Conti-motion fronts [tires]
« on: April 07, 2015, 11:36:28 AM »
Hey Folks,
Anyone running Conti-motion fronts?  Having trouble getting the bead to seal, the mold marks and nubs are counter-intuitive to sealing IMO.
Thanks.

Never had a problem with those. Soap it up real good before adding air.

Never ran the fronts, but have run two rears on different bikes.  I don't like that the is no center groove.  You don't know it is time to change until the threads show.

I know a lot of folks who think threads are wear indicators...

:rotflmao: Guilty, once. Was riding to NW NM on a Sunday, on my Valkyrie and stopped for gas north of Santa Fe. Just by accident notices all kinds of thread showing on the rear tire. Obviously didn't check before leaving CO Springs that morning. Luckily found a shop open in Albuquerque with a tire that fit. Road VERY cautiously the remaining 80 miles or so and was able to get a new tire that day and finish the trip. I check more often now, especially on the C14 that I ride a little more aggressive than the Valk.

Just as an update Continental Tire has been fantastic with customer service on this tire.  They have been responsive to phone calls and emails, I've been quite impressed with their attention.
I'm not sure if I'll get this Conti-motion to seal but I'll buy from Continental again based on the service they are providing.  Just not sure which model I'd get!

Wrap a ratcheting strap around the outside diameter of the tire and tighten it. That will spread the beads close enough to the rim to inflate.
Release it as soon as you get a seal started.

The bead gets close enough, tire inflates.  But there is a slow leak.

Looks like there is some flashing that is keeping it from sealing.

Turns out there was rubber missing from the sealing surface in one area, looked like a worm hole.  At any rate Conti exceeded my expectations and mailed me a front tire.  I'll be trying a few sets of their tires as s result of their response to my issue and standing behind their products!

Now if it just lasts long enough to get some miles...

I've got a friend that used them on his C14 for a few times.
He liked most everything about them, except their longevity.

Let us know how many miles you get, please?

If they go the distance, their a good value.
