I just opened the box of a two brothers pipe !!I pulled the Factory pipe and looked inside the header and saw The cats inside an easy job to cut them out. However there is a o2 sensor right past the cats, The Question is can I cut them out without problems? Will I get a FI Light?
This topic has been covered before and the conclusion was that it was pretty much a waste of time removing the one-way catalytic convertors on a C14. They are not restrictive. Probably won't get an error, but there are much better ways to spend your time
I also, will ask why trash a brand new aftermarket header, before you try it out?
As noted no real benefits come from removing it, and as you have a new bike, it does require the inputs from the o2 sensors to correctly supply fuel, without getting errors..
If you decide to mess with stuff, might wanna talk to SISF about a reflash, and deal with it in that manner..
So where is this PROOF of cat removal not having any effect?
Where is this thread ?
there was actually a test done on that [...] The great news is that he had the bike dyno'd before and after so we know the results: he gained one (1) Hp. Maybe. [...]The Catalytic converter takes up almost no room in the exhaust and presents virtually no restriction.
Steve want's me to bring my bike to him for dyno time to help resolve this ah misconception
My butt dyno said there was a difference , but I also installed Two Brothers cans at the same time...
I was surprised how much restriction those two cats LOOK to create, I guess if one kept the stock muffler The restriction would still be substantial and not change much.
Steve has said ANY restriction of the exhaust restricts HP

I cannot point to the thread, in fact, it may be gone. Long time ago there was a gentleman, I think perhaps Flying Kaw, who did a dyno test on his bike, then removed the cats, then dyno'd the bike again and if memory serves, gained one Hp.

+1. This is true. Cody did this, and I was there.
Cody pretty much tried everything you could try for power.

I have an '09 with the Cats removed[...]The biggest advantage is the loss of all that heat.
She tops out at 156-160 then falls flat. I could probably get another 10mph
I believe the heat issue was solved on subsequent model years.
