super easy on a gravel road, Max.

I am terrified of gravel and sand.

I certainly can understand why some people would want more control over the linking (like the ability to turn it off), but I have a hard time believing that in the linked system (and especially in "low" mode) there is much increased risk of high-siding by using the rear brake.  The amount of linking is still dynamically controlled and ABS is still there to prevent either wheel from locking-up.

Max, I'm not disputing how you use your bike- you seem to like it as well as I like my '09. All that I'm saying is I'm glad I have the choice of which ABS brake to use when entering faster corners in the mountains, and how much to modulate without the fear of some unexpected linked braking modulation between the front and rear which can affect all your various sphincters and ruin your shorts and confidence.

Where's the OP? Some input / conversation about his problem would help keep the thread from wandering.

That generally shouldn't be an issue, because the ABS off and Traction Control off are temporary settings that come right back on when you restart the bike.  Of course, someone could turn it off every time and that would count as an "extended period of [off] time" as you indicate.  Mechanically, the linking seems to be fairly easy, so am I not sure why it would fail from being off (anymore than on), but I am really not all that familiar with the system.

Yeah, I would never want to turn ABS or TC off except for testing or perhaps in certain very unusual situations.  It is kinda like a seat belt- I wear it all the time on the very, very rare occasion it might be needed.... and you don't want to be without it in those situations.  Good idea to exercise the ABS every now and then (it just seems scary to do so on the bike, compared to the car).

ABS can be turned off? Not on the superior first gen bikes. At least not that I know of, not without pulling a fuse at least...

ABS can be turned off?

Sorry, that was a mistake.  You can't turn off ABS, you can turn off traction control (KTRC).  There is an ABS button (K-ACT ABS, labeled "K-ACT") but it can only be used to change the linking from high to low.

Ok guys, now that we have that out of the way, can we just wait for the o/p to return, and give us an update on what he found, based on the probable causes given early on combined with the directives on how to do system invoked code check.....?

I really hate it when a first time posti person shows, asks and never relates the findings...

Are you suggesting that we not speculate what may be wrong till we get the facts? That's crazy talk right there!
