New Grips
« on: December 21, 2015, 07:24:13 PM »
Ordered my first add on for my new Connie, Grab On Grips,Read alot of reviews and decided this was the way to go to cover those hard stock grips. This bike has a odd seating position, Ive had many bikes and a 750 suzuki  that was a full blown bent over c rocket .This bike as much as I love it I just cant seem to fit it! The weirdest thing for me is its stock seat has a design that wants to push your center weight over the pegs and keep you off balance in an uncomfortable forward position with most of your upper weight forward on the grips, very strange and hard for me to get used too! I find myself wanting to lay on the tank , I like to be in a 3 point position, even weight on pegs seat and handle bars. with no pushing pulling or cramped up legs. Im sure Ill grow used to it ,it is winter with few rides in on it with only 400+ mls. Still wonder what the designers of this slightly weight forward position were thinking? If you have to add on all the risers and extentions something is off or maybe the bike is a weird fit for me. I am just getting the grips because of the weight of being pushed forward is really bothering my wrists and hands.Am I the only one that after a while started thinking different seat?? Input Please! I hate to do it but a large slopped down tank bag Is looking good to put some weght on to get it off my arms,by the way Im 5'11'' 190lbs rode all my life had about 8 cycles. :-\

This seat will make a huge difference in the bike.  It's well spent money

Comment on seats.  I'll start with saying that I'm not a Corbin fanboy.  Had them on several bikes over the years and liked some and others were, well to be kind, not so liked.  However, the Corbin modular seat for the C14 is outstanding (for my butt anyway).

A curiosity question:  What were your previous 8 bikes (more style than specific model)?

I ask because everybody has a preference for a certain ridding position.  So, some people need an adjustment period for different ridding positions and others never really get to like some positions.  I have really tried to like cruisers but I just can't get used to the leaned back position.  Heck, I don't even like to set in recliners in the house.  For me, I'm good on most anything from a true sport bike to a UJM (upright position like the old KZ series).

Current 2 wheel rides:
2014 Councours 14, 2003 ZRX1200r, 2001 ZRX1200r, 1994 KLR 650, 1985 Eliminator 900 (will sell in the spring)

Yes this seat will address the pushing forward problem. Call and talk to Loran, he is a great guy and also a Concours owner.
I have one of his seats on my bike and can't say enough good about it. I put mine on my bike and then broke it in on my Iron Butt CC50 ride. First day was over 19 hrs in the saddle.

Last one was Ultra classic 09 64,000 mls befor that kawasaki voyager 2010 got rid of it because of belt noise stealers just couldnt figure it out went to 4 finally got rid of it other than that it was ok,no aftermarket for googies though. before that had 2 bikes a new suzuki c90 their 1500 model and a custom 1500 vulcan before that the 750 gixter, before that a 800 inline yamaha, my first bike 350 honda on/off road I think they called them enduros. I think thats it ,the connie makes 7.

Murphs wedges might help with the bar position as well as risers
