Awaiting for my 14 to Arrive !!!
« on: November 09, 2015, 11:23:08 AM »
Shipping from Louisiana tomorrow. Hope to hit the shores of North Dakota by the end of the month. I have been hanging around the C10 section for about the last 6 years. I am sure I will have lots of questions.

My first one. I have a mile of gravel to the highway. If I use a fender extender is a radiator guard still suggested?

I would use both and make sure that the second recall for the rear brake has been installed.  What year bike?

Yeah, I have neither, but RARELY encounter gravel or rocks.  If I did, I would probably consider both.  Cheap insurance.

Yeap, the gravel is a bear.I have had to hose off the oil cooler on my C10 many times due to mud.

Good luck on the gravel, mud. I wouldn't even consider taking my bike on a road like that- be extra careful of linked ABS if you have it, this bike will tip in a heartbeat.

Gravel isn't that bad. I've done a lot of gravel with my 2009, non-ABS, including very twisty gravel roads with steep hills. As long as you are smooth with the throttle and brakes you will be fine, especially for a mile.

I ride the snot out of my c10 and old Z1 on gravel. Mud is tough with the 10 and the Z never sees mud if I can help it. I have never ridden a ABS bike though. I would think that would make braking on gravel safer?

The traction control may cause a bit of a learning curve on gravel, too.

Dry sand on pavement scares the **** out of me.  I had an experience at Sandbridge that I will not repeat (no wonder they call it SANDbridge).

Clowns...I hate clowns. The way they jump out of the weeds along the ditch is unnerving.
