HAHA!!  that was funny right there. :goodpost:

agreed, but in a way it's not. Too many posts gone south because of some attitude. My grandpa told me to learn from everybody, regardless of their ways. This forum is civil, but every now and then that wisdom gets tested.

True- and amazingly petty too boot. In a world that produced Leibniz, Bernoulli, Fermi, Seaborg and so many of that caliber, most of us seem to get petty and almost pathetic by getting an ego boost from being perceived as a GOO ROO regarding motorcycle mechanics. And still more people struggling to attain that lofty position. All too bad because just a bit of learning and at least some of these people would find out just how large, complex and intricate 'the world' really is and how small and petty things like knowledge about something as simple as a motorcycle really is also.

But you are right- this IS a moderated forum and direct insults and outright abuse is stopped so it does not get out of hand. And let's be honest, some of the garbage winging its way around here really is pretty funny, whether that was the intent or not.... :-)

funniest part, is that you know me, and know when I'm poking someone with a stick, or just poking... and you also know I never wanted to be a guru..
simply someone who shares... heack, guru's ain't allowed to dis someone... its bad Karma... I don't like bad karma... but I dis what I dis... 8)
( unless guru dude gets free bourbon till the bar closes.. never seen that yet tho...)
I just wish I could attain a holistic point where I do not need toilet paper...

I've been restrained so-to-speak, by my peers in control, about running with scissors and slamming folks... even when they needed to have the reigns pulled in because, well, just because... and we'll leave it at that...

I know Bubba Steve is getting to have a shorter fuse, I certainle hope he hangs in there, and keeps it up...
lotta people out here know a little about some of these bikes, very few know a lot about the small world of bikes we have been going over for 13+ years tho, and that makes some people a bit.... squirrley..?

ego boost?

I just like the words, "thanks man for helping me"....
that's what I'm into.

46 YEARS OF KAW.....  47 years of DEVO..

I was not referring to you Rich, nor anyone specific. Just the general development of those who seem to seek some status in life through the 'Net, usually on forums. The only thing more amusing than that specific behavior is the occasional resultant adoration of the roaring masses.... :-)  It is a relatively new phenomenon and most interesting to watch happen IMO. My own opinion is that it gives those who feel powerless and inferior a possible way to stroke their own egos (Easy Boys! I said 'Ego'!).

"Slaves dream not of freedom, but of becoming masters."
-unknown ....a great reference about those seeking to improve their own condition, often at the expense of others.

Brian, that phrase really hit me, so I did a bit of research, and found this in an English language forum:

As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is no democracy. - The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume II, (August 1, 1858?), p. 532.
