another GPS mounting question
« on: June 27, 2011, 08:12:16 PM »
Hi guys,

I ve been strugling between an $$$$$ waterproof GPS or something cheaper with some adjusting mods.

I narrowed my choice of GPS on the Garmin Nuvi 1690. Unless you guys have some others suggestions

for the mounting options, i though this one would be ok

http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/PartDetails/tabid/63/partid/082065077045066045049055052045065081054085/Default.aspx

Im just not sure about the bracket going on the clutch reservoir

Any inputs on the overall idea?

Speed545, that looks ok but seems a bit pricey. I like the center mount and use a swimers cap for wet conditions. Been fighting fires long?.........blanton

Get you one of these from Murphs. They work great and are very well made and only ~$10 more than what you're looking at.

I'm using this for my specific GPS, the bolt holes line right up with the Techmount. $11 at Amazon.

If you go to, http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/GPSMounts/tabid/135/Default.aspx, and input your GPS info you can find out which cradle works with your GPS.

I thought you were on the fence about the waterproof box? I'm not sure if there's enough room with the center mount for the aquabox or not, somneone else will have to help you with that.
