Coming clean on Pi Day
« on: March 14, 2015, 06:52:03 AM »
I've told very few people that in Fall of '12 I started back to college to get a MS is Math primarily because there would be a lot less explaining to do if I failed out or didn't finish.

Well, a week ago yesterday I wrote two comprehensive exams (I passed one and still waiting to hear on the other) and on Wednesday I successfully defended my thesis. So, as far as I know, the biggest hurdles have now been negotiated.  One more midterm and a short project and I'm done.

Mark another up for an old Cogger.  We can be an amazing bunch.

It's been quite a while since I've been in school, but I recall midterms being in the middle of the term, and finals being at the end.
Things they keep a changin'.....I remember "the new math" ('60s? '70s?) it seems so old now.  :(

....regardless, CONGRATS JIM! ....you ol' dog learnin' the new tricks.  :chugbeer:  :hail:

Well done! Did you bring doughnuts to your thesis defense? In my experience, most successful thesis defenses involve doughnuts.

Congratulations!

I went to school with a guy who started after he retired. In the yearbook he stated his goal was to graduate (B.S.) before he died. He did too. :-)

Congratulations, Jim.  That's quite an accomplishment.
