Okay, bad choice of words, wrench, but he may as well have shot the thing for all the damage he did.

Dealers will always tell you that you can't watch the work being done on your bike, due to insurance demands.  While that may be partially true,  the main reason is, they don't want you to see that even though they billed you 1.5 hrs for a repair, it was actually completed in 35 minutes.  The next hour they billed you was spent doing another repair that paid 2.0 hrs.

That's how techs make their money.  In 90 minutes, he billed 3.5 hr's.  A fast tech can bill often 20 hr's in an 8 hr day.  All those pneumatic tools/air guns make it possible.  Flat rate pricing is normally calculated with the use of all hand tools, which inflates or increases work/bill times.

Yeah, I used to write dealer auto service, and saw this every day, until I couldn't stomach it any longer and made a change in employment.

Yep, I am very familiar with that. As I said, I actually managed this particular location for the previous owner when they were moving into it. For a while we had both locations open. It is under new ownership now and was originally okay. I won't deal with them if they refuse to replace the bolts. I will avoid them for service regardless.
