08 OEM C 14 seat question
« on: June 29, 2014, 05:22:27 PM »
Is the factory seat on my 08 a gel or foam only sea?  It is a decent seat, but if gel from the factory, wondering what if anything can be done to it for longer riding comfort.  I'm OK with it for a while, but after that not so good.  Seat has 22K miles on it, now.   Thanks for any info/ assistance. I did a search, but just found seats for sale, and similar comfort complaints.  tomp

I believe that the seat that came with the bike was foam.  They had an accessory for gel.

Stock seat is always foam on the Concours.   Kawasaki does make an optional gel seat, but I personally would not recommend a gel replacement because I had bad experiences with one (although it was not Kawasaki).  They get VERY hot from the sun or cold from the environment and do not let go of that state.

Probably would need to either have your seat re-worked (cut down, different foam density installed, etc), or get an aftermarket seat like a Sargent, Corbin, etc...  Plenty of threads on the Forum about replacement seats or seat modifications, just search.
Shoodaben (was Guhl) Mountain Runner ECU flash, Canyon Cages front/rear, Helibars risers, Phil's wedges, Grip Puppies, Sargent World seat-low & heated & pod, Muzzy lowering links, Soupy's stand, Nautilus air horn, Admore lightbar, Ronnie's highway pegs, front running lights, all LED, helmet locks, RAM Xgrip, Sena SMH10, Throttle Tamer, MRA X-Creen, BearingUp Shifter, PR4-GT, Scorpion EXO-T1200,etc

Thanks guys.  It's not a bad seat, compared to my immediately replaced stock Dyna seat.  I had read somewhere that the stock seat was gel, but it didn't feel like one, to me...Thanks for the heads up.  tomp

I've heard they are nice.  A friend had one that he used regularly for longer trips on his BMW RT.  Might borrow his to see how it  works for me.

Gsun, not familiar with a Spencer seat.  Guess I need to google it.   Thanks.  tomp
