I lane share quite often, and I always have the bags on. But there should never be a problem, since the mirrors are wider than the bags anyways. In fact, since the bags are also lower than the mirrors, the only annoyance I feel when lane sharing is that my mirrors are the same height as most car mirrors. So it takes a bit more "clearance" for them, than I need when going by pickups and such. But at least I know that if the mirrors clear, I KNOW I'm good. And these days, it seems like EVERYONE drives the guzzler SUV's...

There's a UK site that fabricates for police bikes and they have the same thing with the side cases...  I'll try to find it again.

I realize this is a very old topic but I was wondering if you ever found that site or know of a company that just sells the slim door? Im a motor officer in Texas and we want to go to a slim bag. Currently the full size ones cause problems getting in and around traffic not too mention we use them for police rodeo competitions and the bags are so wide you have to ride patterns like a Harley to prevent from knocking down cones and crashing. Thanks!

I've got feelers out again for the cases.

Might check Kas and see what they did when they were building LEO bikes.

I never understood why to put slimmer cases for lane sharing when the limiting factor (the widest part on this bike) are the mirrors...
Yes, once you clear those you can swing the bike a bit more, but still.

I think the main point of the slim doors is aesthetics. The C14 does have a bit of a fat a$$. I ride with a group with FJR's and another connie. I've seen the rear end of the FJR and the Connie side by side and the C14 looks like the fat sister from behind. I would consider doing the slim doors if I had a second set of cases and could swap them for long trips. But the cost of a second set of cases then add the cost of slim doors is totally prohibitive.

Because it offers a solution to the age old question:  'do these bags make my rear end look big?'

Na, when I have my bags mounted it's because I need that extra space.  :) :chugbeer:

I live in So Cal and lane splitting is a must! I travel 40 miles one way and in a car it can take as long as 90 minutes to get home...RIDICULOUS! I split WITH the bags on...can get tight at times but it works! I like the look of the bags on the bike and the room to store stuff (including helmets) is nice so they stay on. Regarding the idiots that try and cut us off as we split? I've seen riders purposely remove mirrors from cars because of it!  ;D
