Missing Bolt?
« on: May 16, 2014, 10:06:11 AM »
Can someone take a quick look at their bike and tell me if this hole should have a bolt in it?  I looked at the online schematics and it isn't clear.  I tried a few different bolts but couldn't seem to find any threads in there.

Not a bolt (sort of). That thing you're seeing is the end of a long tube member that supports the back of the engine... and yes, it is hollow, and removable. If you go to the same spot on the other side, you'll see the nut holding it in.

For those of us with Canyon Cages, we had to remove that thing and replace it with a different version.

Thanks much.  I figured that was the case, but couldn't remember.  Tough to get old, etc...

It should have a hex hole in it.

I've seen bolt hole, hex hole, and long tube member so far, but no mention of a gas hole. It's still been a good read.

I happen to have an extra bolt after doing a valve adjustment. Would anyone know where this goes?

Thanks MOB- that was it. I had a shouldered screw in that spot.

HAHA! I figured it out. The screw was a leftover because the threads were boogered up so I used a new one  at the same location but on the right hand side. It was only the  shouldered collar that I needed a home for.
Thanks
