GPS help
« on: May 09, 2014, 10:39:52 PM »
Calling all you GPS guru's. I am trying out a new Garmin 390 but for the life of me its kicking my arss. I have a route planned in HD road trip click export to GPS by GPX it shows its there but I can not find it or open it on the 390? What am I missing? I have been thinking about getting a GPS but if this crap keeps up I'm ready to flush the whole idea.

Any help is welcome.

Dave

Not sure if this helps, but all the files I transfer to mine (not a 390) are in .gdb format not .gpx

It will be in Trip Planner.  I think that's what it's called. It's the app w the red push pins.  I must say I'm not impressed w it. Had a 660 that had issues had it replaced twice then got upgraded to the 390. Wish I just had a 660 that works.

Well I think I'm slowly getting it figgered out? I have been trying to export them ( from HD trip planner ) in an auto sync mode it has not been working. So I went the manual route HD planner>my computer>to garmin via drag and drop and so far the routes I have done have worked. On a side note you have to wait a bittttttt for it to download to the 390 not sure why?

On my 765T I just build my routes in the GPS.  I find the intersections on google maps and then type them into the GPS.

I just ordered a new 660LM GPS and will see how the route transferring works.  Found it for $535 delivered.  Still pricey, but the 765T is getting hard to see when in the sun.
