You construct a tool - look around you, can you form some sort of rudimentary lathe?  ;D

Went back to the auto store and got a strap wrench, and eventually got it to turn the damn thing.  4.5 quarts of mobil 1 full synthetic, K&N filter, and some $60 wasted later, everything is all good. Unfortunately, I didn't get Brian's text until after this was all done, or I would of just waited 3000 miles or so.  According to the owners manual, the oil needs to be changed every 7500 miles, not 3000.

Also according to it, lubrication needs to happen at these points:
sidestand
center stand
clutch lever
front and rear break levers

Does anyone actually do this?  Or only if they feel bad or have resistance?

I lubricate those areas once a year or so..............................when I remember it.

Why do you have to open said boxes to remove them?

You just saved my life as that would most likely result installing something.  :finger_fing11:

A picture of the problem would be helpful.

if i was worried about changing a filter and a header pipe spring was in the way I'd take th 2-3 seconds to grab a spring puller and another 4 seconds to pop the spring off and then change the filter and pop the spring back on.

but wait...then I couldn't have started an oil thread  :D
