Should be required visiting for all Euro folks when they start to talk and act about how bad the U.S. is. Brings home the point rather simply that freedom isn't free doesn't it?

And they are always, always clean and well maintained...  I made a point of visiting Luxembourg and Bastogne when I was stationed in Belgium.  Helped keep me grounded seeing what was sacrificed so many times.  To read the names and ages :'(

It's true that the USA is unpopular to some extent, and I even disagree with some of their actions and attitudes some times as well, like calling themselves Americans and excluding the rest of America with all sorts of silly arguments.
But many here in Europe forget that they would be speaking German (or not speaking at all) if there wasn't for the US doing its thing. I pay the utmost respect and gratitude for that to you guys. And like Silverdammit, I always read the names and the ages of the person buried. It chills my spine  :-\

I visited Omaha Beach and the cemetery in Normandy last year. A very sobering experience. I also look at the ages and you realize that a majority of the acres and acres of graves would have been fathers and grand fathers and great grand fathers today and what was lost becomes overwhelming.
