Projekt D Windshield
« on: June 20, 2013, 09:58:34 AM »

Just curious if anyone has tried the Projekt D windshield on a newer C14?  I have the Cal Sci shield on not and tried a Cee Bailey but with the Baily had turbulence and with the Cal Sci I have real serious wind noise in the helmet unless I run it all the way up. Both are their tallest shields. I'm only 6'2" tall and have tried two or three helmets. I can look over both shields all the way up but they are further up than I prefer. The Projekt D shield has a flip at the top and I thought it might be better. Any one with an idea or experience with their shield?

I have not tried the Projekt D. You might look for a wider shield than what you have. I've got a Calsi and I notice if I tuck a shoulder in I lose a lot of wind noise on that side.

For what its worth, I did the windscreen sampling program for medium screens and found I liked the V-stream best.  Previously I had a medium Cal Sci. Ended up being able to get a V-stream from another forum member and we just did a swap since he did not like the V-stream

I have the Cal Sci wide tall screen and can't imagine a wider screen since it comes all the way out to the mirror bodies. As to the comment about the V Stream, I have not tried it partially because I didn't like the looks of it but I may have to give in. The Projekt D screen interested me because it was wide and tall and had the flip. Since the wind noise is related to the height of the shield I thought it might be a solution.

After experimenting with three different windshields, it was an MRA screen that solved all of my problems, FYI .

A significant amount of wind noise enters the helmet from underneath. A  Proline Wind jammer2 may help. I have not tried one yet but I am considering it. I was riding in a cross wind the other day and my right ear was taking a windy beating ( despite ear plugs). I put my left hand to the right side of the bottom of the helmet which reduced the wind noise a great deal.

MY aeroflow is great, There is a good flow of air that moves up the back side of the shield but I really do not notice that unless it is cold.  It is very quiet.  I would also consider a V-Stream especially for colder weather riding.
