Cool runnings
« on: May 29, 2013, 05:10:24 AM »
Hopefully anyway. I've been to my local car parts store and took the old radiator fan switch...Honda civic I says. £20 he says....Kawasaki wanted £60.  So, I'm waiting for the expansion tank and then its fill the bugger and back on the road.  Its really annoying because the fuel tank is full. But I've got the DR650 to keep me buzzin'.  Thanks boys - you're saving me money too! John

Ride it without the belly tank. It's only an expansion tank.
Just make sure the overflow hose (the one that feeds into the top of the tank) doesn't drop coolant on your back tyre.
I rode without one for months in the late 90s.

In other news I've started getting Otto back on the road.
Have ordered new fork springs from Murph and will be getting the wheels powdercoated in dark graphite or black.
I'd prefer the dark graphite as that should match better with the matt black paint.
If only this damned sciatica would go away!  >:(

John when you say radiator fan switch, do you mean the thermostat / rad cap or one of the temperature sensors?

The one that screws into the radiator on the left side if sat on the bike Vinny.  This one works - I ran the bike up to temp and the fan whirred away. It kicks in at a lower temp too. Better than £50 to Big K.

Easy - I asked for 1996 1.6 civic. Take the old one and check. The thread and connections are the same - its about 1mm bigger thats all.

Thanks!  I've got one on the way as part of the refurb of my new-to-me '05.
