Want to mod my seat, which one?
« on: May 19, 2013, 07:41:38 PM »
The stock seat on my 2012 is a butt burner. I find myself standing (which feels good anyway) and moving around a lot, it becomes intensely painful to me after a while.  Maybe your ass fits your seat, mine does not, it causes me PAIN.   BTW, I am 5'10" and 200 lbs, not a lot of fat or padding on me unfortunately.

Seth Laam?  Sargent? Other? Somebody wrote up a Seth Laam seat, it was like they belonged to a Seth Laam cult or something, they REALLY liked it.  But we're talking over $300 here and that's not hay.

I do NOT want a bowl that puts me in one spot and one spot only.  I had one on another bike (maybe it was poorly done) but my butt was lower than my thighs and it made it harder to reach the ground, hard to explain but it was like the seat edge was a fulcrum and when I went to put my feet down, I levered my butt in the air a bit.  Also, that hurt the underside of my thigh that was against the seat edge/fulcrum.

Thanks!

I'm afraid that nobody is going to be able to answer the question for you.  Every person is different and has different needs/specs/wants.  And each seat is different.  I have a Sargent and like it, but that doesn't mean anything- some people don't like them, some people like the STOCK seat.

It is a lot like asking which helmet will be most comfortable for you.

What is your Sargent like?  Is it a bowl?  How much was it, if you don't mind me asking.

Not a bowl "whatever that is", gonna be more than $300, whatever you get will be better than the stock slab. How much is your butt and comfort worth, there is a ton of seat info already on the forum, a bit of searching would yield you some good information.  8)

It is fairy flat, I can move forward or back- and do tend to move some to try and vary position when my back starts to bother me.  It is very good quality, for me it is comfortable, and looks nice.

I don't remember the price offhand.  It is heated and with the rear pod, so it was not cheap.  Current prices should be on their site.
