I rode 167 miles yesterday at pretty spirited pace, still got 38/39 and I flogged Sasha pretty good at times.

Sasha eh? Strange name for a manly body part but whatever floats your boat.  ;)

... however I do enjoy the pre  planning for a long ride, then putting the plan into action with a successful out come. The post ride analysis is sort of like re living the ride, putting all the photos together and sorting the stats etc.

I do that too, it's fun. I spent weeks planning my 6500 mile trip, all the places I wanted to go, laid out the route every day, saw all the places and people I wanted to see. Each night I would record my total mileage for the day and the things I did, saw and what happened, good and bad.  I still go back and read it and relive, it's like I am there again.Toward the end, I got tired and blazed home, 1090 one day and 890 the next (from Barstow CA to Peoria IL). Then spent a ton of time going over the pictures, making a Flickr page with the pictures and notes, etc.

I followed your links and looked at your photos and ride summaries, looks like you had a cracker of a time.

I look over my old ride summaries too,  the places, people and events, all the memories good and bad flood back.

Thanks for sharing

Cheers

Paul

I still get around 42MPG on average when touring. It goes down into the 30s of course when I am blasting on the back roads, but for general riding it is in the low 40s. I have a 2009.
