LED Driving Light Dimmer
« on: February 01, 2013, 12:04:39 PM »
I have just brought a set of LED Driving lights for my 2010 Connie
http://24x7diy.com/product_info.php/cPath/23/products_id/34
I want to buy the LED Dimmer with the Bypass for Hi Beam that has been talked about on here. I went to the website that sells one of them
http://stores.intuitwebsites.com/hstrial-QualiRegResou/-strse-47/Rotary-LED-Dimmer-with/Detail.bok
OK its $60 but they also want $30 to ship this little device. Seems extortionate to me. Is there a reasonable alternative product of dealer i could find.

Thanks guys

Here's another dimmer: http://skenedesign.com/lights/IQ_175.shtml

Skene has some nice stuff.  He's an electrical engineer in the DC area.... I went ahead and ordered one of these as well.  I needed a dimmer for my MondoMoto MM10's for night riding and did not feel like messing with putting in one of the cheapo dimmers and another relay.

Hey, let us know how this works out with the Mondo MM10's as I have a set installed and would like your feedback.  Thanks.

I thought you would like to see the Skene Design LED Driving light controller in action. Admittedly it is only on the bench as my bike is burried until spring.

So it is the 1800 lm LED driving lights, and the Skene Design IQ170-A controller, at its 20% on low beam default. At the end of the video I put it in Alert mode. Should get the attention of those left lane hoggers

Would be very difficult to miss that alert mode thing!  But at night that could be dangerous- very bright and quite dazzling.... at least the hyper strobing is only for less than a second.

Hey Chap, can you comment on the quality and construction of the Skene Design IQ170-A controller? What gauge wires does it have?

The reason I'm asking is that I have a dimmer from a different company and the wires are very small.

Thanks!

The design looks pretty good and compact. No external relays are required. They say it will control 60W per lamp. Mine are under 20 so no problem. The controller does not seem to even get warm at the default 20% PWM. The wire gauge looks like 22 AWG or thereabouts. No Pot to turn, but you can add an externat switch and have 3 presets if you like.
