I commute daily in winter temps of 30F to summers at 108F.  I have zero complaints.  The silver color reflects heat very effectively.


I also wear their textile over pants http://www.tourmaster.com/product/Textile_Pants/Overpant/274/4 that zip to the jacket.


Last spring I came off the bike at approximately 15-20 mph.  The bike was totaled and the pants were trashed at the knees but
I suffered no physical harm.  The removable pads absorbed all the punishment.  The mesh jacket showed no signs of rolling down the road with me in it. 


The only potential issue with the jacket was that the black shoulders are fading from my daily commute (120 miles round trip).  I spoke
with one of Tourmasters people about the fading and asked if the fading/exposure was causing a deterioration of the mesh fabric and
if I should replace it.  I was told that I needn't worry about it and to keep wearing it.

I have always like the Alter Ego. The price is usually just out of my range. How is it in the really cold weather?

I cheat, if it gets in the 30's I throw a heated liner on. I wore this jacket for years and loved it, my biggest complaint was that the waterproof liner went on the inside. Once the jacket was wet it was heavy and took a long time to dry out. I still use this jacket for my summer jacket, remove the outer liner and it breathes nicely.

I bought a waterproof Tourmaster Transition jacket for winter riding. I have not used the heated gear yet, but I also do not ride as much in the winter as I once did. Age, maybe?
